Bob Butehorn is entering his forth season as the men’s soccer head coach at Florida Gulf Coast University. Butehorn has more than 18 years of coaching experience with NCAA Division I institutions.
Butehorn joined FGCU after spending five seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program at the University of Pennsylvania. He was also the head coach at Division I St. Bonaventure University from 1995-99. Taking over a program that had won just two games the season prior to his arrival, Butehorn led the Bonnies to school records for most conference wins and most wins in a season. He coached three All-Conference players, including the only Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year in school history, and led the Bonnies to a 34-32-4 record during his tenure.
Prior to leading the Bonnies, Butehorn served six years as an assistant coach for the University of Maryland, where he was an integral part of the turnaround of that program, eventually guiding the Terps to NCAA Sweet Sixteen.Butehorn has also coached numerous amateur players from the East Region as the Region I Festival Coach for the U.S. Soccer Federation. During his three-year tenure as a festival coach, Butehorn led the East squad to two gold medals and saw 12 of his players eventually join Major League Soccer teams.His accreditations include a United States Soccer Federation “A” license and an U.S. Regional Soccer Clinician. Butehorn graduated from the University of Tampa in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in sports science/physical education. As a student-athlete at Tampa, he was a member of the soccer team that won the 1981 NCAA National Soccer Championship. Butehorn finished his graduate work and earned his Master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania

Alex Aldaz is entering his forth season as an assistant coach for the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer program.Prior to joining the FGCU men’s soccer staff, Aldaz served as an assistant coach at Xavier University. In his two years at Xavier, Aldaz helped the Musketeers reach the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament for the first time in nine years, best conference record and most overall wins in four years. Aldaz was also responsible for recruiting two 2006 Atlantic 10 All Rookie Team selections, in which Xavier was one of only two schools in the fourteen team conference to have multiple selections.
Prior to his tenure at Xavier, Aldaz served as an assistant coach at the University of Dayton, and helped lead the Flyers to an 11-7-1 overall record including an 8-3-0 mark and runner-up finish in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2004. While at Dayton, Aldaz coached US National Team selections and Major League Soccer standouts Chris Rolfe and Dasan Robinson, along with four all Atlantic 10 Conference, three NSCAA All Region, and one NSCAA All American student-athletes.He is a graduate of the University of Texas, has a master’s degree from the University of Redlands, and has received the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Aldaz is also a staff coach for Florida ODP.A Buenos Aires, Argentina native, Aldaz is fluent in Spanish and speaks some Italian.

Aaron Slusheris in his first season with the FGCU Men’s Soccer staff and will serve as the Goalkeeper Trainer.
Slusher comes to FGCU after a solid playing career at Willmington College in Willmington, Ohio. While at Wilmington he was a three year captain, two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference academic team selection, a First Team All-Ohio academic team selection, a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper, the Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, and team Most Valuable Player, among many other accolades.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Slusher received his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with Wellness Concentration from Wilmington College in May 2009.
